Ross Nicholson is an exciting and innovative creative director and producer at Black Skull Creative.
Ross has diverse experience across a wide range of award winning international spectaculars; large scale shows as well as numerous high profile cultural and brand events.
Trained in Drama at Hull University, Ross started his career as a stage manager before moving in to theatre programming and production. In his early career Ross proudly worked for prolific theatre producer, Sonia Friedman to bring some of the most memorable theatre shows to the West End stage, including Jerusalem, La Bete, and The Children’s Hour, among others.
Ross played key roles in the technical department for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies and also the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia; gaining an in depth understanding of large scale creative and technical delivery of seemingly impossible ideas for a global audience.
When conceptualising his work Ross believes that creating immersive and interactive experiences are the key to connecting deeply with an audience. A lesson that he learnt when producing critically acclaimed experiential cinematic events in unique locations around London with Secret Cinema.
In 2015 Ross produced the opening ceremony of the Baku European Games in Azerbaijan. Ross was the driving force behind the delivery of this award winning production to an audience of millions across the globe, collaborating with a world-class creative team to realise a complex cultural spectacular.
Since co-founding Black Skull Creative, Ross has continued to produce work spanning a multitude of creative industries; from the television studio and the football pitch to the catwalk and the concert arena his leadership knows no bounds.
Ross excels at creative conceptualisation, pairing those skills with a fearless ability to lead a team through practical delivery.
